Know what paperwork and protections should exist.
Moving has rules, documents, estimates, valuation choices, and carrier identifiers. This page gives customers a plain-language starting point before they book a local, California, interstate, or international move.
California Moves
For moves within California, ask for the Cal-T/PUC details.
CPUC consumer guidance says California household-goods movers should provide important information and that customers should obtain the complete company name, Cal-T number, address, and telephone number.
- Ask for the mover's legal name, DBA, Cal-T/PUC permit number, address, and phone number before booking.
- Review the estimate, order for service/agreement, valuation choice, inventory where applicable, and final charges before signing.
- Ask how not-to-exceed pricing, change orders, materials, access charges, and payment timing are handled.
- Keep copies of every signed document, receipt, and written change.
Interstate Moves
For state-to-state moves, verify USDOT authority.
FMCSA guidance directs consumers to search registered interstate movers and review authority and complaint information before hiring.
Move Plus / MP Relocation Inc is publicly listed with USDOT #877345 and MC #383607.
Long-distance moves should have clear shipment details, pickup/delivery information, and written terms.
Valuation is not the same as ordinary insurance. Ask what protection choices are available and what exclusions apply.
Know which agency handles your move type: CPUC for California intrastate household-goods issues and FMCSA for interstate moves.
